Random Thoughts on Weekend Shift

I still have lots of things to figure out in my early clinical year, but if I am asked what ER has taught me for the past two months, I will spontaneously answer: to love unconditionally. To love people even when they're not lovable. To touch people hands, telling them to remain calm when all they heard was NGT insertion plan. To give an ear to someone who later was known with history of anti-tuberculosis drug without wearing masks (then freak out about it). To listen patiently when your patient was gasping, while on the other side, the family wasn't that cooperative to ask. In brief, to preach the Good Samaritan teachings.
